Minecraft Notes

Welcome back to another edition of whats happening on our Minecraft server. We are so close to being able to update the server to 1.21.11, the new update which has spears and a tamable Nautilus mob. The server software, PaperMC, has moved the version to the stable branch 3 days ago, and now we have to give it a bit more time for the plugins to catch up. Read more about 1.21.11 on Mojang’s site.

Custom Recipes

Dyes – New custom recipe added thanks to Grizzly’s idea: A way to get dyes without the painstaking task of harvesting hundreds of flowers. Since dyes are purely decorative, I thought there wouldn’t be any harm in adding this recipe. All you need to do is put a Block of Wool plus a Water Bottle in a crafting table to get the dye color of the wool you put in. Works for all 16 colors. The Wool and Water Bottle are both destroyed in the process.

If you have any other custom recipe ideas, let us know on our Discord, #minecraft -> #discussion channel. Not all custom recipes can be accepted, but lets discuss it.

Quality of Life Changes

  • Random teleport, thanks Akira_Otomo for the idea. Use /rtp to randomly teleport anywhere between 500-5000 blocks from spawn. Great for new players to jump straight into the world. I’ll probably slowly increase the range as more people join the server and they explore everything and exhaust the resources in this area.
  • Mob spawn amount was fixed, thanks Sage905.
  • TNT has been re-enabled globally.
  • Explosion Regeneration has been turned off, I finally found the command after all this time.

Creative

  • Added a huge schematic to the Creative server that showcases a lot of furniture ideas. Feel free to copy any of it.
  • Also fun fact, the little handles on some furniture drawers is totally possible for you to recreate in Survival: Simply place an item-frame, add a slab to the item-frame, make the item-frame invisible by right-clicking on it with shears, and then place a sign on the block behind the item-frame so they overlap.
  • You can find this plot South of spawn (Just head in the direction the giant Creative sign is at and its like 3 plots away.)

Bugs and other Notes

  • Typo – In the previous post, I accidentally said “Repair Cost Removal”. I meant “Repair Cost LIMIT Removal”, as in you aren’t limited to repair/anvil costs under 40 levels anymore, it can become more expensive than that now.
  • Chunk Loading Carts – Added a plugin to have minecarts keep chunks around itself loaded so it can continue moving along a track without requiring a player to keep the whole area loaded. HeavyD57 was testing this a bit and he said it doesn’t seem to work. Might remove for now.
  • Global Shop – The plugin developer for the global shop introduced a new bug that made the item worth displayed in an item’s lore was glitchy, so it has been turned off for now. He made it so the item worth was 100% visual now instead of actually applied to the items, which theoretically should make it less laggy, but it wasn’t working correctly on our server.
    • The current shop plugin is such a headache, full of bugs and lacking features. I might just replace it with a different one.
    • By the way, if a shop gets fully stocked (95% or more stock), it will delete part of the stock down to 50% every 30 minutes.
  • NPCs/Quests – A couple of players have expressed interest in our server having NPCs and Quests, so I’ll look into adding that in the future. I want a way for players to make their own NPCs and create their own Quests so it will make their town more attractive. Don’t expect it anytime soon though, this is low priority.
    • In the meantime, you can a feature from the last post that says you can claim villagers and then anchor them in-place using shears so they wont move around, as a way to populate your towns visually without really adding any functionality.
  • Player Shops – No one has used the player-shop feature that lets you sell any item from your own personal shop. I guess I’ll throw in a couple more player-shop plugins, see which one sticks, and then remove the rejects. I guess its my fault for not making a post on how to use it yet.😅
    • But seriously, for those of you who wish certain items were able to be sold in the shop like diamonds, armor, tools, enchantment books, you can just sell that in a player-shop to other players.
  • Teleport commands in the Nether and The End haven’t all fully been blocked yet, but take this as a warning that eventually all teleportation will be blocked from those worlds. The idea is to make them actually challenging so the items from them are valuable.
    • I will, however, add a warp command soon that will give people who are truly stuck in these worlds the ability to get out. Like imagine if you were stuck in The End with no ender pearls or elytra or pickaxe to dig blocks for a bridge, or how about being stuck in the nether without any tools or obsidian to make a portal out. Perhaps a “/warp unstuck” command with a cooldown of 1 day to prevent abuse.
  • Command Warmups have been temporarily disabled. There’s Cooldowns (How much time before you can use the command again) and Warmups (How long it takes before the command actually activates). Expect this to be re-enabled again sometime in the future to prevent abuse (such as teleporting away from danger).
  • I’m currently working on adding a Post Office to the spawn area where every player can claim a post office box, and other players can deposit items into it for the box owner to take from. A nice little immersive way for players to donate items to each other. Its not live yet, but keep an eye out for it.
